Scott's Profile Picture
When it comes scary, interactive gameplay and a horrific, yet compelling story telling, Scott Cawthon's Five Nights at Freddy's is a series that hits all the marks. Five Nights at Freddy's is a horror game where you, a security guard, works the night shift at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. As the security guard, you have to monitor the actions of four animatronics known as Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy. At first, it seems as an easy job, but there is a twist. The animatronics are possessed by dead children and are seeking revenge on their killer. You have to survive the entire shift from 12am to 6am.

Characters of FNAF 1
Even though it's a horror series about mechanical animals trying to kill you by stuffing you in mechanical suit, the fans, including myself, have found a way to love each character regardless of the fact. There are plenty of ways that fans show love for their favorite "furry" animatronic killers. People even go as far as to even dress up and make very technical and creative suits of one of the characters from the series. You usually find these cosplayers at conventions that involve gaming or even a comic based convention. Even though the characters are literal robots, the fans stop at nothing when it comes to representing their favorite character. This video is an example of how much work someone put into cosplaying as one of the characters from series, named Springtrap:

Another way fans participate in showing love for the, which is personally my favorite way, is creating theories for the game series' lore. When the first 3 games of the series released, the amount of theories fans have put together were huge. The lore of the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise was a complete mystery to the fans. These theories range from "What is the TRUE identity of the Security Guard?" to "Are there people inside of the suits?" to "Is this all just one gigantic nightmare?". As the only one who knows the true story, Scott Cawthon, the creator, even participated in these fan theories by giving hints on how close these theories were to being correct. As soon as fans thought they were close to solving the mystery of Five Nights at Freddy's, Scott would drop a bombshell hint and completely destroy many theories. Instead of the "bombshell" discouraging the fans, it actually did quite the opposite. Fans were even more motivated to get closer to solving the mystery by using the hints given by Scott.

Here are some places where you can watch or read about some FNAF theories:

Five Nights at Freddy's is loved by many people not just by the game, but the warm-welcoming community, the amount of participation in the story, and the intelligent story-telling delivered by Scott Cawthon. I personally think everyone should give the series a chance, as you will end up finding yourself hooked instantly and be curious of how the series will end and be solved. This series, especially the fanbase, is truly one of a kind, and I don't think there will be anything like it again.
